How to use this tool

01

Choose an output format. The quality slider affects JPEG and WebP, not lossless PNG encoding.

03

Convert and download. Use the displayed preview and size to decide whether the new format suits your task.

What the result means

Changing a file extension does not convert an image. This tool decodes the image and writes new image data in the chosen format. PNG is useful for sharp graphics and transparency; JPEG can be useful for photographs; WebP is another option when the receiving application accepts it. The output uses the browser encoder, so sizes can vary between browsers.

Questions about this tool

Can I convert HEIC files from my phone?

HEIC is not supported in this first version. Export the photo as JPEG or PNG before selecting it.

Will a transparent PNG remain transparent?

Choose PNG or WebP to retain the rendered alpha channel. JPEG does not carry transparency and uses white instead.
