What the result means
When supported, this tool uses the browser's word segmentation for the current locale. Character counts use Unicode code points, not visible grapheme clusters: a complex emoji may count as several characters. Characters without spaces exclude all whitespace. Paragraphs are counted as blocks separated by blank lines.

Why does another editor show a different count?
Editors may treat hyphens, contractions, numbers, emojis, and language boundaries differently. Use the receiving platform's count when its rule is authoritative.
